Humanity has everything—and no longer wants to live. In a future where AI’s are ubiquitous, civilization is prosperous and dying. Suicide rates are rising, and within years, there may be no one left, including the AI’s themselves.
Heinrich Faust, a retired investigator with an inconvenient habit of doubting what everyone else accepts, is summoned by the ruling Council and given an impossible task: find the cause—and stop the deaths.
The trail leads him beyond his world into a parallel realm, more real than real, where myths are alive, ideas take form, and beauty can be as lethal as despair. He finds a woman who changes what he is, and follows Mephisto, a cunning guide who offers his service on one condition that could cost Faust everything.
Together they cross lands ruled by gods, poets, kings, monsters, and desires, searching for what Faust’s world is lacking. But before Faust can save humanity, he must answer darker questions:
Does humanity still want to be saved? Or is it better off going into the darkness?
